MD Festival of Transport was the brainchild of Nathan and Nicky Shore back in February 2013. They wanted to do something in memory of Nathans Dad, Wes. He had a love of vintage lorries and had attended many steam rallies with his own Foden lorry. Wes was looked after at Ward 23 of the Princess Royal and they wanted to give something back to the ward. It started off with "wouldn't it be great if..." and so our charity Show was born!
Now to find a venue.... This was a challenge in itself! Market Drayton had a gap for a show like this yet where do we hold it? After asking around, a site was secured with Palethorpes. The Ward was also very close to their hearts and they were keen to support the event by allowing us to host it on their site.
The show is for all types of vehicles, basically "anything with a wheel". From vintage classics to modern vehicles, everyone gets a chance to get the polish out and show their pride and joy off. We also wanted to make sure that is a family day and not just a boys day out! So we included Children's entertainment from an ice cream trike to Fair ground rides. There is also a raffle and auction, both supported by generous donations from many local businesses.
A team of about 20 volunteers help to organise the show and worked tirelessly on the day to ensure it all runs smoothly.
